2023 Impact Report

WOW, WHAT A YEAR!

This year brought us incredible partnerships and exciting collaborations.

As we take a look back on 2023 we can't help but celebrate these incredible milestones….

February…

We celebrated our 4-year anniversary! We also partnered with OC United in Fullerton, California to join them on their annual Galentine’s Day event to celebrate women in their support groups. We were able to provide Thrive Causemetics skin care and make-up items to over 40 women!

March…

We partnered with NO MORE and DomesticShelters to facilitate 2 webinars - one titled “Accessing Support Through Survivor Groups” which spotlighted 3 of our members’ stories, and one titled “Using Technology to Improve the Journey to Support”. We had 96 attendees for the first and 428 attendees for the second. Both were a tremendous success!

April…

We celebrated Denim Day and launched a Sexual Assault Awareness campaign to educate our community by amplifying the messages of healing and hope from our members who have experienced sexual violence.

June…

We expanded our services to offer Educational Domestic Violence Workshops and hosted our very first virtual educational workshop with employees from Liferay.

July…

We began the development of redesigning our survivor-support website, www.speakyourtruth.today, as well as creating a new nonprofit website for donors and stakeholders - www.sytt.org. After working on them for several months, we are so excited to officially launch them both!

“I really enjoyed how the workshop felt like a safe space to share thoughts, or just listen if you'd prefer, there was no pressure either way which put me at ease!”

August…

We were awarded grant funds towards our Care Package Program from our local Walmart in Orange, California! In the photo to the right, our board members Megan Choe (left) and Jennifer Maas (right) join Hannah (Executive Director, middle-right) and Walmart leaders for the signing of the big check.

September…

We launched NO MORE Silence, Speak Your Truth, a new, story sharing website in partnership with NO MORE and Our Wave. This new platform allows for survivors to anonymously share their stories online, and find similar stories to their own through a tagging system which we believe will greatly impact policy work with the data received. We look forward to collaborating with NO MORE and Our Wave in future conferences!

October…

We launched our annual Run The Globe campaign in partnership with RUN to Change Lives & Girls Who Travel, and collaborated with Paw Prints in the Sand to host our first Pets Against Domestic Violence launch day event! Additionally, we collaborated with OC United and Radiant Futures on other events throughout the month to help spread awareness. Our campaign was very successful!

In addition to facilitating a successful month-long awareness campaign and highlighting a survivor’s story every single day throughout October, Hannah Hollander, Founder & Executive Director of SYTT, was able to share her own story through 2 breakout sessions at Cal State University Fullerton’s 22nd Annual Violence Prevention Conference, with 40+ attendants. This enabled her to meet more local partners in the DV field who are eager to work with SYTT, and she looks forward to participating in more conferences in the future.

November…

Thanks to several large donors, we were able to sponsor 14 families’ holiday expenses and provide SYTT care packages and Amazon wishlist items for them and their children.

December…

We were awarded a grant from the Orange County Community Foundation! We are excited and grateful for this opportunity.

In addition to the above, this year we also…

  • Welcomed 845 new members to our Facebook Support Group

  • Shipped 20 care packages through our Care Package Program to assist survivors in the midst of their transitions from abuse

  • Onboarded and welcomed 3 new volunteers to our growing team

  • Produced 9 new episodes on our podcast called Share Your Truth LIVE.

  • Helped 16+ survivors escape abuse (and have reached 527+ total survivors since we started in 2019)

  • Created a "Member Survey" to gather feedback from our members

  • Added 3 monthly donors to our Monthly Monarch program

  • Educated 2,042 people about abuse through our Abuse Quiz

  • Added 667 subscribers to our email list

  • And we increased our social media following by 29%!

  • “I received the care package with the makeup, phone, and tablet in it... I am overwhelmed with the genorosity. I am not one to ever really ask for help. This will be more helpful than you know. I look forward to being able to repay the generosity and hopefully sponsor someone else in need in the future.”

  • “Thank you so much!! This is a beyond generous gift for me and my kids. This holiday season will be a little brighter because of this. I hope one day to do the same for someone. Bless everyone involved who made this happen for people in similar situations, the holidays are so tough."

  • “My favorite thing about the group is The support you receive from other group members. And reading others stories, learning from them and just knowing that you're not alone in this world.”
