Interested in helping survivors heal and escape from abuse within our Facebook support group?

We provide emotional support, answer questions and offer resources to survivors along their healing journey.

We have a large team of volunteers to help moderate our Facebook support group. Volunteering can look like approving posts, guiding members to follow rules, helping members discover important resources, commenting on members’ stories to boost engagement, etc. We are always looking for passionate, knowledgeable and dedicated people who desire to virtually help survivors of abuse seek resources and healing.

In order to apply, you must:

  • Be a member of our support group for at least 3 months.

  • Understand the dynamics of abusive relationships and be able to empathize with survivors.*

  • Be able to commit to 3-6 hrs of volunteer availability weekly

If this is something that interests you, please click the button below to learn more, or email laura.habla@sytt.org.

*You do not need to be a survivor of abuse in order to apply.

Other ways to support and raise awareness…

Volunteering in your local community or spreading abuse awareness can also create a ripple effect to help those impacted by domestic violence. Here are some more ideas for how to get involved:

  • Help raise awareness or funding for domestic violence survivors - Share abuse education on social media, create a birthday fundraiser, or participate in our yearly Run The Globe campaign during Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.

  • Babysit or volunteer at a shelter - Volunteering or babysitting at a local shelter is a fantastic way to help. Locate a shelter near you, and inquire about volunteer opportunities.

  • Accompany a survivor in their legal journey - The court experience can be re-traumatizing, especially when experiencing it alone. Accompanying a survivor to court in their legal journey can reduce their anxiety, build their confidence, and help them feel supported by their community. Locate a shelter near you, and inquire about volunteer opportunities.

  • “I have learned so much through the training we have received, through all the members, and through my own story. So, while I have healed, I am constantly still learning. I made a promise to myself a long time ago – that I would do everything I could to help others going through abuse. SYTT has allowed me to fulfill that promise. ”
